The following is a list of basic equipment required for the emergency room (emergency department), organized by function for reference:
I. Basic life support equipment
1. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation equipment
Defibrillator (manual/automatic, with pediatric electrodes)
Cardiopulmonary resuscitation board (hard backboard)
Simple respirator (adult/child/infant size)
Laryngoscope and blades of different models
Tracheal intubation kit (including various types of tracheal tubes)
Oxygen mask, nasal cannula
2. Oxygen supply equipment
Central oxygen supply system or oxygen cylinder
Portable oxygen cylinder (for transfer)
Oxygen saturation monitor (pulse oximeter)
II. Monitoring equipment
1. ECG monitor (with blood pressure, blood oxygen, respiration, body temperature monitoring)
2. ECG machine (12 leads)
3. Portable ultrasound (for rapid evaluation, such as FAST ultrasound)
4. Non-invasive/invasive blood pressure monitor
5. Carbon dioxide monitor (end-tidal CO₂)
III. Emergency treatment equipment
1. Airway management
Negative pressure suction device (portable + fixed)
Airway foreign body removal tool (such as Magill forceps)
Cricothyroid membrane puncture kit
Ventilator (transport ventilator + fixed ventilator)
2. Infusion/injection equipment
Infusion pump, injection pump
Venipuncture kit (indwelling needle, central venous catheter, etc.)
Bone marrow infusion device (for children/adults in emergency)
3. Trauma treatment
Debridement suture kit
Tourniquet, compression hemostatic dressing
Neck brace, splint (limb/spine fixation)
Burn first aid kit
IV. Auxiliary equipment
1. Diagnostic equipment
Rapid detection equipment (such as blood glucose meter, blood gas analyzer)
Portable X-ray machine (equipped in some large emergency rooms)
2. Other tools
Emergency medicine cart (separate storage of epinephrine, atropine, etc.)
Low temperature blanket (body temperature management)
Gastric lavage machine
Electric stretcher/stair stretcher
V. Consumables and medicines
1. Disposable consumables
Sterile gloves, gauze, bandages, adhesive tapes
Syringes, infusion sets, blood collection tubes
Closed chest drainage kits
2. Emergency medicines
Cardiovascular drugs (epinephrine, amiodarone, nitroglycerin)
Antidotes (naloxone, atropine, etc.)
Sedatives and analgesics (diazepam, morphine)
Antiallergic drugs (dexamethasone, diphenhydramine)
VI. Special scene equipment
Pediatric emergency: baby incubator, neonatal resuscitation equipment
Poisoning emergency: poison detection kit
Disaster emergency: mass casualty triage kit, mobile emergency unit
Precautions
1. Equipment needs regular maintenance and calibration (such as defibrillator battery, ventilator circuit disinfection).
2. Adjust equipment configuration according to the level of the emergency room (e.g., tertiary hospital vs. community hospital).
3. Follow the latest requirements of local health departments and international guidelines (e.g., AHA, ERC).
It is recommended to further refine the list based on the actual size and service scope of the emergency room.
